Hey everybody, I've installed Kubuntu 8.04 and everything seems to be working except my games. I've installed Nexuiz, OpenArena, Americas Army and Urban Terror. They all seem to open up and start ok but the mouse is unresponsive. I have a Microsoft Wheel Mouse Optical 1.1A USB mouse.

I would really love to play Urban Terror. When it first comes up I can see the pointer at the top left of the screen but as soon as I try to move it, it immediately jumps to the right of the screen and will only move up and down.

I thought I'd ask here first before I start just trying random things because past experience has taught me that's a bad idea.

Not sure what sort of information to post here that would be helpful for debugging this issue.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Tim

I've had a problem similar to that. Is Compiz Fusion turned on?

I do not have any of the desktop effects turned on. It's a new install and fairly basic.

What a strange problem. That can be hard to figure out a solution for. But try going into the mouse settings and do something there, otherwise buy a new mouse, they are cheap..
Where would I find the mouse settings? Thanks

Go to the Add/Remove and search for "Compiz Icon." (I don't know the package name for apt-get) When you start the app, right click on the icon Select Window Manager > Metacity

Possibly, but I'm not sure how...it's never even been close to a windows box!

I tried another mouse, just a plain old two button model but it still doesn't work.

Can anybody point me in the right direction?

Thanks a bunch!

Disabling "Unredirect Fullscreen Windows" in "General --> General Options" sorts this out for me. Try it and report back pls.
