I used to have the proprietary Virtualbox with the USB support but in the process of trying to setup networking after USB was a success I can no longer use USB. I did a a lot of different things, some of which I don't know what they did. But now Virtualbox has OSE at the top of the window leading me to believe I now have the open source version. I didnt lose my operating system or any data or anything, its just OSE now. Is it possible taht I switched it without even knowing? Can I switch it back without losing all the Virtual system's data?

Yes, you can go back to the non-free version without losing your VMs.
