game like stronghold on linux

i'd like to know that too... stronghold 2 is awesome... at least it was a few years ago... many hours spent with that game...

somehow the slaughtering of enemies by packing the wall full of towers and crawling with archers is so rewarding :)

It may not be the same, well, maybe in some respects, although it could be similar to World of Warcraft 3. Maybe you could try GLEST. It's in the repo's. Very customizable (is that the right word?) characters. Config files are XML and can be modified using the internal text editor.

glest is unfortunately not the gameplay stronghold offers...

stronghold is like world of warcaft 2 with archers and spearmen :) a great story and fun strategies... and of course with strongholds and long walls and towers

the economy game option or the battle game option... it is graphically pleasing and a game i was happy to purchase with my own money

Guys it's "Warcraft 2 & 3" not "world of". Just a note.

And as far as i can tell there is no open source alternative to stronghold.

It's a DOS game so use DOSBox for Stronghold. Works great :)

I fail to see how Max Payne manages castles and troops. He can't even handle his own constipation problems.
