I've just done a fresh install of 8.04 desktop on my macbook, and it wont detect my 13" monitor. It is defaulted to 800x600 at 61Hz.

Here is my xorg.conf:

xorg.conf (X.Org X Window System server configuration file)
#
# This file was generated by failsafeDexconf, using
# values from the debconf database and some overrides to use vesa mode.
#
# You should use dexconf or another such tool for creating a "real" xorg.conf
# For example:
# sudo dpkg-reconfigure -phigh xserver-xorg

Glad that worked. The other solution would have been to add a 1280x800 modline to the Display section and also add "1280x800" to the modes section under the Screen section. I had to do the equivalent to get openSUSE to recognize the 1280x854 native mode of my PowerBook.
