Hi,

I cannot connect to internet wih ubuntu 8.04 (or kubuntu) using usb HDD.

However I can connect successfully to internet on usb flashdrive.

On running ifconfig with ubuntu I effectively get the same information (apart from RX and TX packets etc.). The 1M flash drive lists eth0 and l0. The HDD lists eth2 and l0.

Kbuntu clearly recognises my modem router.

Ping on Terminal shows no link.

Could it be be a port problem?

I often have to reboot my NETGEAR modem router when I return to Windows Vista.

Any ideas?

Many Thanks

Hello,

I'm completely confused .. what does a USB Hard Drive or USB flash Drive have to do with your Internet connection?

Can you tell us a little more about your setup, including what type of cable you use to connect computer to the Netgear router?

Thanks
