Access virtual machine's HD in VMware

I was wondering if there was a way to set up a virtual machine running Windows XP within VMware from Ubuntu AND have Ubuntu be able to recognize (and read and write to) the virtual machine's (virtual) hard drive. In essence, can I configure it so that Ubuntu has full access to the virtual machine's drive as though it were simply a seperate partition on the physical disk.

Any help/suggestions would be much appreciated.

Sorry, nevermind. I didn't exactly find a guide for this anywhere in particular, but I just did some more exploration in virtual machine advanced options and think I have found a solution (there's an option to let the virtual machine have access to the physical hard disk).
