I just installed ubuntu 8.04.1 LTS (hardy Heron) on my powerbook g4 ppc, from the ubuntu Live cd. The installation seemed to go fine. I chose to install on largest continuouos space on my hard drive, after i was not able to figure out how to partion it manually. when i boot into ubuntu without the cd, as it loads up to the user screen, it sounds like my disc drive is spinning super fast than a constant crackling noise sounds like its comming out of my right speaker on my laptop, but its not sound. its some internal part of my computer that sounds like its grinding the **** out of it. im not really sure where to start, about fixing this problem. Ubuntu boots fine off of the live cd, with the option live video=ofonly. any help would be great, thanks!
