Hi everyone, I have a 1.25 ghz G4 iMac, which I recently installed Ubuntu 8.04.1 on. However, I have no access to wired internet, only wireless, and I do not have an airport extreme card installed.

I was wondering if my best option was:

a) Buy and install an airport extreme card, and try and get it configured.

or

b) Buy a USB wireless adapter which is compatible with ubuntu

from the threads I've been reading it seems that neither of these options will be painless, but I was hoping someone might be able to make a suggestion.

Also, is it possible to download and burn software repositories to a DVD? I've been looking, but have been unable to find an answer to this question. Has it will take about a week for an airport extreme card to arrive, this would provide at least a temporary solution to allow me to configure my computer better (graphics drivers, software updates, etc)

Thanks in advance everyone.

I really don't know what to tell you but not very experienced but on 6.06 manged to get airport extreme card to work. Can't get 8.041 to work so don't know what to tell you but it should work.

Thanks! I got my local tech guy to order the wireless extreme card in...its $50+, which isn't too bad I guess, and worth a shot. I don't have to pay for it until it arrives, so I will search for other options until then.

I really would like to find out if there is any way to burn the software repositories onto DVD's though, that would make my life a lot easier. The DVD reader on the iMac is shot (reads CD's fine though) but I have an external drive I can plug in and use.
