Amule is a file sharing program... Does not seem to be able to run torrents.

I use KTorrent and even though I'm using Gnome it still runs awesome

$ sudo apt-get install ktorrent

Deluge!!!

It's the best. Look here (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BitTorrent_client) for feature comparison.

I came from windows and utorrent, which is the most freakin awesome torrent program ever. Doesn't run on ubuntu though...

So after wading through half a dozen resource hogging, poor UI, no details shown clients, I have finally settled on Deluge.

I really like it - the interface is similar to utorrent, and it doesn't seem to slow down my machine noticeably.

Check it out.

Well, Deluge is good, Ktorrent also does the job but keep in mind that Ktorrent is a KDE program and seems to take a lot of resources in Gnome. If you are a fan of uTorrent you can install it through Wine (as it is a Windows program). I use Deluge most.

uTorrent will run on Ubuntu with WINE.

Bill

+1 Deluge though

Yeah, I know utorrent runs with WINE, but personally I consider programs that require wine to not 'run in ubuntu'. I guess its just a philosophical position.

Plus, adding WINE to utorrent is a huge overhead for a program for which the main selling point is being small and lightweight. It does run though I guess...

But in ubuntu, can't beat deluge :)
