Just got my acer aspire 1, and in my eager to remove the dummy-desktop placed there by acer I accidentally deleted all the panels.

Now I have managed to add a new panel, but I can not seem to add programs to them. I tried right clicking it : P

So the panel is pretty useless. I would like to have one with a clock, a wlan-manager etc. but right now, it does not look like its going to happen. System seems to have crashed to. Progs not loading right or at all.

-need help restoring/adding programs on/to panel: )

Any help greatly appriciated.

thnx in advance.

When you right click on the panel, what happens? You should get a menu which includes the item "Add new item".

nothing happens. All that lives on the bar is a small icon called "new icon" not configured yet. Also it seems that several programs have problems running.

Try
sudo apt-get install xubuntu-desktop

apt-get: command not found.

I think i broke it. I get to keep both pieces dont I? ;)

If you can open synaptic, search for desktop and try to re-install the desktop from there

Due to my networkmanager not working, I am unable to start synaptics as it shuts down with the message:

Unable to retrieve software information. (not connected to internet)
