Hi Guys,

I think this company 'copied' the Canonical's logo, it is an insurance company in Saudi Arabia and the best of course.

Links:
Canonical

Tawuniya

They registered this new logo for tow years or less as I know.

Maybe Canonical is the one who coppied?

The circular logo style is actually very common - Canonical can't really lay claim to the design as 'theirs' either.

Even Microsoft used a similar logo in the past, more closely resembling the 'Circle Of Friends' Ubuntu logo.

The logo is a bit different and the company works in another field.

I think it is safe to say they have the right to use that.

Canonical has had the ubuntu logo longer than them, so they didn't "copy" it like some poster suggested.

Btw: horrible website design.

Yes it is horrible website design

I do not know why most governments websites in Saudi Arabia are very horrible.
Also some big company.
Is it becuse they use ASP?!

Check these:

Monochrome vs. coloured
upright vs tilted (some 15 degrees?)
bars indented vs plain edges

Yes, on the whole I would tend to say that there are differences.

Seriously? There aren't even enough likenesses in the two to warrant this thread.

For a community that boasts openness and freedom, a lot of people are pretty vicious about going after people for their logos. They're almost nothing alike.

ASP has nothing to do with HTML code

It's similar but different enough to be not confused with Canonical's logo.

Tawuniya was founded in 1986.
Canonical was founded in 2004.

If Tawuniya has had its logo this long, then the accusation could be turned onto Canonical. Though, I doubt one of those two comapnies even knows the other exists.

The image (http://www.tawuniya.com.sa/files/annual_2007.jpg) they use in the lower right hand said could also be said to mimic the Debian logo.
