I recently installed Ubuntu earlier today. Now, I turned it on, logged in, and everything is working perfectly except for my wireless internet.

I know that my wireless card works because there is an orange light on it, which means that its off for some reason. I think there might be a driver issue because the switch to the wireless is in the on position.

My laptop brand/ model is:
Compaq Presario laptop V6101US
Product # : rg298ua

Thanks for your help.

Do you know the exact wireless card that's in that machine?

I believe it is a Broadcom a/b/g WLAN , or just b/g .

I actually just looked up the exact thing, and it is:
Broadcom Corporation BCM94311MCG wlan mini-PCI (rev 1)
