I tried to play a movie & received an error message asking if I was trying to run without using a libdvdcss file. When I looked in System/Admin/Syn-Pkg-Mgr & did a search for libdvdcss, it was not found. However I do have libdvdcss2 and libdvdread3. I assume the libdvdcss2 came in during an update. Should I re-install libdvdcss somehow ?

Have you followed the DVD playback part in the Comprehensive Multimedia & Video Howto (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=766683)?

Might work to re-install the packages.

ubuntu-restricted-extras package maybe useful if your on a fresh install, it comes with libdvdcss2 amongst other things.

Also you may want w32codecs for future use, not sure this is included with restricted package

libdvdcss2 is in the Medibuntu repository, which is not enabled by default. See http://www.medibuntu.org/
