check the README/INSTALL file in the source code directory. Although most source packages can be installed by changing to the source code directory and then "./configure;make;sudo make install"

What I meant was the error output from the terminal. Lets take one game at the time.
By the way Battle for Wesnoth is in the repo. if you live with it's version 1.0 and not 1.0.1

Battle for Wesnoth is in the Ubuntu repositories, you don't have to compile it yourself.

Compile means that you build eg. a program/game to fit your computer for your needs from the Source.

If you don't even know what compiling is, you'll do better using the ubuntu install system to play the available games.
Compiling apps for use on your system requires some knowledge about programming unless you enjoy finding yourself stumped most of the time.

I am doing this because my PC does not go online, and therefore can't use the install system.
And for your infromation I HAVE some programming skills, and it doesn't help, do far.

You can program but do not know what compilation means?
Without internet connection you will have quite some trouble building the games for yourself. But you can still grab the Ubuntu packages manually from the repository and install them.
If you want to compile programs on your own you have to install countless development packages, which will get you to the problem with the internet connection again... Quite some of them are included on the install CD, but others aren't.
