Hi, I like Kubuntu much more than Ubuntu. I was wondering what others think.
I opened a brainstorm idea for swapping Kubuntu with Ubuntu (http://brainstorm.ubuntu.com/idea/13468/) in importance and advertising target.
If you think that it's plain stupid, I'm sorry. I just think that it's unfair that so many people have to suffer with Gnome because they are unaware that KDE exists. I don't want to start a religion war (I don't plan responding to flames), I just wanted to start a simple voting (http://brainstorm.ubuntu.com/idea/13468/).

I prefer kubuntu more also mostly because I love KDE, for the double height taskbar, amarok and it's more customisable.
I do not think that Canonical should focus on kubuntu rather than ubuntu because whereas the main GNOME distro is Ubuntu, KDE is much better implemented by Mandriva and SUSE.

no. KDE best implementations are done by OpenSuse and Mandriva, it would be a waste of resources for Canonical to give up Ubuntu Gnome and focus on KDE

I'm sorry, but what makes you think that people 'suffer' with GNOME? (apart from your own personal bias)
Obviously it's working for a whole lot of old AND new users, and in my view those who feel 'advanced' enough to be frustrated with the limitations in configurability of Gnome, can very easily choose to install KDE or switch distros.

...because changing the panel size is so hard in GNOME ;)
Everyone can trumpet their own favorites. I'm an avid Xfce user, but you don't see me campaigning to replace GNOME with Xfce - even though it would improve performance.

How 'bout Ubuntu/KDE?
Personnally, I think the best KDE is the vanilla KDE you can find in Ubuntu, Debian, Gentoo, Slackware, BSD or Arch. The heavily customised ones of Kubuntu, OpenSuse or Mandriva are really not my thing.

Why would it be a waste of resources? Someone might feel that not enough is devoted to KDE by Canonical.

Exactly not enough is devoted to kde or kubuntu, thats why gnome/ubuntu has always worked better than kde/kubuntu for me anyway has anyone else found the same general results between Ubuntu & Kubuntu ?

It seems to me that Kubuntu Ibex will be a far improved version to any so far. Sure, Kubuntu uses upstream artwork, but the package combination in favor of KDE4 is quite good - most Ubuntu-equivalent features should be available and more. openSUSE does do a great job at supporting KDE, but I am too used at using debian-based distros to care about making the switch right now. However, I think I might try out openSUSE 11.1 in December, although I don't plan to make it my default OS.

Same for me! Except in the other direction!
I was given a Kubuntu CD many moons ago, and I just fell in love really. I've never had any reason to change.
Don't get me wrong, I am quite impressed with GNOME and it's applications etc... I've just "always used" KDE.
I wouldn't say "suffer using GNOME", I think you are entitled to choice and you don't HAVE to use something you don't want to (much like M$ ;) ).
I do agree that OpenSUSE has a better KDE experience, as I used OpenSUSE 11 for a period. It was the Ubuntu community that brought me back though.

Maybe keeping pulling one's hair off because the Gnome devs made the (stupid) decision to hardcode the Alt+[1-9] shortcut for switching tabs in gnome-terminal, which interferes with an awful lot of terminal programs that also use these shortcuts?
That's one things that comes to mind right now, I've given up on Gnome long ago, so I don't remember all the awfulness it brings. That one, however, almost made me throw my EeePC out of the window.
