I am running Kubuntu 8.04, with the abominable kde4.1.1
on an ASUS motherboard with a Diamond Stealth video card. The system chose a VESA driver (can I change that from System Settings in kde4? How?) , but I suspect it is wrong for this configuration. Although it works fine with kde3, once I installed kde4 it has the following "glitches":
--Blank screen when I type cntrl-alt-f1 (or other f*)
--Nothing happens when I try to show the dashboard (f12)
--The desktop effects do not work.
I suspect the video driver, but it might be the alignment of the planets. I cannot believe it could be KDE4, could it? ;-)
Note that it works fine in kde3, and I have reinstalled kde4 several times.
