I have completely removed os x from my macbook 3,1, is there any way to escape the annoying apple bootsound?
That was supposed to be ubuntu as a prefix not kubuntu, oops I slipped

looks like the times this has been brought up before, it was only able to be adjusted in OSX. Though, you might be able to mute sound totally in Linux to prevent it.

There is a free utility called Psst (google with "psst mac") that modifies (?) or adds to (?) the firmware, and installs using Mac OS X (possibly booted from install DVD). Since it sits in ROM, it also works when you single-boot GNU/Linux.
I had it first installed on a MacBook, and when I upgraded to a MacBook Pro I imported my stuff from the MacBook. This included Psst, without any further action on my part. Lovely silent booting into the rEFIt menu.

I think the problem is that he does not have OS X anymore.
