Help! OpenOffice refuses to open!

Help badly needed! For the past two days I've been trying to open OpenOffice 2, and nothing happens! The only thing that comes up is a message saying "command timed out." Every single time I've tried opening OpenOffice I've had to force quit it, because it refused to do anything. I've tried uninstalling, and reinstalling, but to no avail.
I should mention that right around that time when openoffice wouldn't work, I had installed software updates for the following items: Digital Camera Raw Compatibility 2.2, Mac OS X 10.5.5, Remote Desktop Client Update 3.2.2 and Front Row 2.1.6

I would seriously appreciate any help at all with this; it's becoming so frustrating! :frown:

Ummnn.. I am not a Mac user, but then I want to suggest that you first try installing alternative programs to OpenOffice like Abiword and KOffice.

Your problem is REALLY frustrating. This is like my problem with SElinux.

are you running openoffice in OS X? or Ubuntu?

If OS X, then you should post in the OS X forum... If in Ubuntu, this is really not likely to be Mac specific.
