emacs-snapshot-gtk hangs

I can't seem to use emacs-snapshot-gtk anymore under intrepid. It worked fine under hardy.

If I start it from a terminal the terminal window loses focus, but no new window is ever created. The app just hangs in this state. Normal emacs22 with the same .emacs loads fine (except that the ttf font i'm trying to use is unavailable).

Any ideas on what the problem could be, or how I can further track this down?

This is perhaps unhelpful, but emacs-snapshot-gtk was working for me perfectly last night under intrepid. And probably is still, don't have the machine now.
