Hi,
when I play streaming radio via a windows media (wmp) link (on website- http://www.abc.net.au/hobart/) I get the sound ok but the quality is low- crackly with a shadow. I do not get this when I use with an xp computer. Any suggestions?
Cheers

Hi and welcome, I receive no issues viewing that site, Have you installed the restricted formats
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/RestrictedFormats
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/RestrictedFormats/PlayingDVDs
Also have you installed the graphics drivers for your card if any is needed?
You may look under system, administration, hardware drivers if your graphics card needs drivers.

Thanks overdrank,
have done that- still get the same prob with that particular page. (FYI, I have previously followed the instructions at: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=766683). wmp seems to be of lower quality in general on other sites (tho. not as bad). When I get the realplayer option I use it and it has the best quality. However at the page I showed you there is no realplayer option.

I checked re: graphics drivers and there are no proprietary drivers at all.
My graphics is shared with my ram. Could it be an audio driver issue?

Cheers
