I've got the source and the patch file but how do i install it?

Uhhh, isn't all the DX9 stuff integrated into the normal WINE CVS now?

Yes it is.

Just download and install the Wine 0.9 packages from the Winehq apt server and you'll be gold.

You can also play with winetools now, which should make things easier.
