My config:
Dell Inspiron 9300
ATI Mobility Radeon
Breezy, 686 kernel
Gnome
I just installed the ati glx driver (to use 3ddesktop, which is very slow by the way) and installed the 686 kernel version (breezy had put in 386 by default).
Firstly, does a 686 kernel boost performance in any way? I didnt notice any performance boost...
Secondly, with the above combination my system hangs while recovering from Standby/hibernate. The screen crazes as soon as it tries to switch from text mode to full screen X. And Ctrl+Alt+Bksp / Ctrl+Alt+Del doesnt work... just complete freeze.
Any help I can get is welcome! I tend to suspend/wake my laptop often, and this is really getting to me.
