Hi...sorry if something similar has already been posted but that didn't help me.

I am doing 2D image analysis on photos, and in addition to something like ImageJ which allows the placement of points and the measuring of angles and lengths, I need something that can draw midpoint, tangent and parallel lines based on coordinate locations in the image. I have tried all the standard geometry programs ubuntu has to offer but none of them allow opening an image to edit on. Any ideas?

Thanks!

Have you tried Kig?

Yes. No luck. Though I'm not saying it's impossible with Kig. Just that I haven't been able to make it work.

In QCad you can import images (jpeg, png etc) with Draw --> Image

Once the image is imported you can draw lines as in an ordinary CAD-tool ontop of the image. When you are pleased with the result it is just to export in whatever image format you like.

I think these features are what you are looking for.

The best one by far that I have found is Geogebra. It's not in the repository, but it runs fine on my system via java. + you can import photos
