I have an iMac 5,1 with the broadcom 4328 wifi. After following one of the many how tos out there I was able to successfully set up Ubuntu and have been using Ubuntu on the computer for a little over a year.
I have been having consistent problems, however, with connectivity. The wifi works in that it will connect and I can surf and all but eventually it just stops working. I can't ping the router or access anything. Usually rebooting will fix the problem and it will work again. It's actually my kids' computer so neither I nor they use it a lot so I haven't been able to time anything or discern any pattern. It just works at times and then not at others. I recently re-installed hardy and thought things were working better but the problem is still there.
I'm sure it's probably related to the poor Linux support on the part of broadcom but I can't do much about it short of buying a different adapter which seems a waste.
Any ideas? Thanks.
I did post a similar question a while back (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=907707) and thought it was solved but it's not.
