Panels in the way when playing a game in fullscreen

Fullscreen doesnt work the way it should when I try to play a game: it resizes the screen correctly, but the panels stay in the way. The game I have this problem with is called Flatout 2, which besides of the panels, works perfectly. A screenshot to maybe make it more clear what i mean:

Does anyone know how I could fix this?

Edit: problem fixed: tampered a bit with the graphic settings in winecfg, and it works fine now
