meanwhile, my systems fonts being all jacked up, i went into a terminal and types sudo apt-get upgrade, and i get an error about my xfonts-scalable. anyone know what this is about? i have the strangest feeling it has something to do with my fonts being squares boxes rectangles whatever you wanna call it

saw this posted somewhere online thought id post it here, im not sure how to do this lol

I had the same problem, while upgrading from edgy to feisty.
Then I upgraded xfonts-utils first (it contains update-fonts-dir).
This new update-fonts-dir accepts the -x11layout option.

that helped that person out... but im not sure how to do it...
