Not sure if this is the right place but i will ask

My g.f wants a new laptop, she already uses ubuntu on her parents machine, she now want a laptop an eee pc 901 with linux installed, :-)

I know it ships with xandos OS, I dont mind, but I would prefer to buy a ubuntu netbook OS machine, for easy of use (So the OS looks the same, compatibility etc) I know I will be able to install it, but for easy of use etc I would prefer ubuntu netbook

http://www.canonical.com/netbooks

Does anyone know when this netbook OS ships, or is out of devlopment? And when will it canonical start selling them preinstalled on machines?
Will it be on an eee pc machine as well?

why you just wont buy eeepc (i suggest 1000 - in compare to 901 has bigger screen and keyboard /10 inches/, also its 'hardrive' is bigger /8+32gb/) and install eeexubuntu (or ordinary ubuntu, if you prefer) on it? its not hard

I have suggested the 1000 version, but she want it in her hand bag, so a 901 is smaller laptop would be better

you might also try UbuntuEEE 8.04.1.

I use it on my 701 and my desktop.
