View Full Version : [ubuntu] [SOLVED] GImp Adjust Pixels - Really Basic Question

Hello

I know very little about photo editing, and I want to upload a favourite avatar to a forum, which must be max size 80 X 80 pixels, and the one I like is a bit too wide.

I have found the Pixel Ruler in GIMP, and am sure that the Tool for this is somewhere in GIMP; nonetheless I am floundering around, and I'd be most grateful if anyone could point me out of the maze.

Thanks in advance

John

Image > Scale Image > put 80 in both width and height

Say, if your photo is 180*240, you could
1. scale it to 60*80
2. scale it to 80*80 (but the image would be distorted - becomes taller)
3. crop it to 80*80.

To scale, select Layers -> scale or Image -> scale from the Image window
To crop, select the crop tool from the main Gimp tools window.
