Hi all. More or less a networking question.
I set up a shared folder on my laptop using this method:
1/ Right click on desktop
2/ Create folder
3/ Right click on folder
4/ Set up 'Sharing Options'
Appears on my Windoze desktop DAW no problem. So figured I would set one up on my wife's computer using a data partition with an existing music/video folder so I could access the music from it (complete collection). That machine is running Hardy.
Right click the 'Music' folder, go to 'Sharing Options' and after a bit of tweaking, got things up and indicating that the folder 'Music' is shared. Odd thing is the 'LaptopShare' folder (obviously from my laptop) doesn't appear on my wife's machine and the 'Music' shared folder from my wife's machine doesn't appear on my laptop.
So, created and shared a new folder on the desktop of my wife's machine, drop a file in, come back to the laptop and there it is, no problem, music file in there and playable and fine to share.
Figuring this has got something to do with the fact that the 'Music' folder I am trying to share is not on the desktop, therefore not in the appropriate directory for sharing (/home?). I have logged out and back in on both machines.
Bottom line: creating a shared folder on my desktop works fine, trying to use an existing folder from a different partition does not.
Any and all suggestions welcome and appreciated. :)
