So I just bought a 1998 iMac from a church sale, but I decided Linux would be better. Which version of Ubuntu would work. I've searched through the older versions but got confused. Is there a PowerPC version that works with only 66MHz processor and 64MB RAM?

Check here https://help.ubuntu.com/community/SupportedArchitectures , under PowerPC, it lists the models that are supported. If not there, then you might consider Debian.

Looks like Ubuntu doesn't have it supported.

I think ubuntu is way too big to work with that machine but there are linux distros that will. I saw them way back when that machine was new.
