GCC aliasing

I am taking my third course in C++, data structures and am getting more and more confident in coding in linux. I was thinking about aliasing gcc to include some of the warning and pedantic flags. Will this cause problems? If not, I would be anxious to hear anyone's suggestions on what would be good options to include.
