You are aware than you can simply drag and drop mp3s to most ipods like a flash memory device correct?
I'm not terribly familiar with running itunes /w WINE, but you can read up here: http://appdb.winehq.org/appview.php?iAppId=1347
Depending on your system specs and other processes that are running your experience will vary, many programs run just as fast if not faster that on ***dows under WINE.

you could use GTKpod instead!.. you could find it in the Add/Remove programs, or type "sudo apt-get install gtkpod" on terminal, works well on my iPod Video 30GB 5.5 gen without any issues! ;)

I tried iTunes with Wine, and it was really laggy. And it didn't even recognize my iPod.
So I turned to gtkpod, which was much much better.

You can't. The iPod doesn't update its own music library - that's why you need to use iTunes, Amarok or Gtkpod.

My girl is able to do this with her iPod no problem on Ubuntu.
I'm pretty sure you're mistaken or she has a newer or older model of iPod than you're used to.

you can drag and drop Mp3 or Mp4 files on you iPod if you have iPod Linux (http://ipodlinuxinstl.sourceforge.net/) or Rockbox (http://www.rockbox.org/) firmware running in your iPod, wherein you don't even need iTunes or GTKpod software!, you could plug your iPod on different computer and drag & drop music/video files in it and play all those files right after you have unplug you device from the computer! :guitar:

Those "Platinum" appDB programs. Besides, any source for that claim? "My own experience" isn't convincing, as my own experience suggests otherwise. :(

Some programs can indeed run better up to 40% faster via WINE. http://twinturbo.org/linux/windows-games-run-faster-on-linux-than-on-windows-vista/
Wine AppDB and Google are your friends. And before i say anything else Rude I'm going to hit the post button and leave it at that.

Well, I couldn't get GTKPod to work, so I'm gonna try using Amarok.

Anyway, that mostly shows that Windows Vista is having performance problems, when Windows XP stays on the same level as Linux. XP still holds greater user audience than Vista. Besides, what I quoted was about Wine/Cedega performance, not native Linux vs. Windows performance really.

Exactly. an hour or so later I couldn't be in the least offended but at the time i was quite annoyed. ^_^ So it's a shame your having problems.
As for your thoughts on Vista being the reason Linux is so much better, Your simply wrong. A Game Designed for Vista, that runs faster on Ubuntu means Ubuntu runs it faster. As much as vista is annoying, It's Designed for Vista, Meaning that's the benchmark. So it's still an improvement.

Err, "A Game Designed for Vista"? :) Enemy Territory and Doom 3 are using DirectX 9c, and were released way before Vista. And in that Phoronix review they say "With Vista's troublesome display drivers ...", which suggests that the problem was caused by bad Nvidia drivers.
Well, anyway I find it odd why they benchmark only two games, which also happen to run natively on Linux. For me it seems biased towards Linux. I understand that everyone around the Linux communities hates Microsoft and Windows, but if they have a reason to, why can't they reveal the facts? :| The tests were ran on a machine incapable for gaming anyways (30 FPS @ 1024*768, oh come on! :D). IMO it shows nothing interesting towards anything, except that Phoronix indeed have pro-Linux as their agenda and can not be trusted in 1-to-1 comparison between Windows and Linux. It's a shame really, they are interesting community.

In the bottom you see a list with different iTunes versions. Click on the version number to see the test results. :)
