This is an annoying problem I've been ignoring for quite a while, but I'm getting fed up with it. I use Ubuntu 8.04 and have the restricted ATI drivers installed and Xorg. Sometimes when I start my computer Ubuntu has changed the refresh rate on me. This is a problem because my monitor is very cheap and only supports a small range of refresh rates, and the rate it changes to is out of range, so I just get a blank screen telling me the refresh rate is out of range. I can restart the computer and there's a chance that it has switched back. If it hasn't, I just restart and try again. It doesn't normally take more than one restart though. What could possibly be causing this?
