hello, I'm trying to install ubuntu on one of my home desktops and whenever i attempt to install it or perform any function instead of doing any of the functions it shows the ubuntu progress bar and then goes straight to bash? Anybody know what the problem is?

Mmm - sounds familiar. I'm something of an Ubuntu virgin myself but I had something similar with Heron. Which version are you trying to install (I'm guessing Heron)? I tried to install Heron on this machine from a download CD and got something similar to your experience - at the end of the day, no Ubuntu or an installation which seemed to have a lot of errors. I had a CD of Gibbon 7.10 which installed OK and then I used the Update Manager to install Heron as an upgrade.

Suggest you download a previous version of Ubuntu and see if that installs from a CD. Then try using Update Manager to download current release as an upgrade online.

1. The install process is interrupted before it finishes. Depending on how far it progressed, the interrupted install process may have added repository files to the target folder.
2. You have a previously installed version of FP 2007. You are installing the released version over the previous version.

There are two instances in which this problem may occur.

1. You started the installation process from a shared folder on your network.
2. You copied the contents of the installation CD to your computer and started the installation process from there. Later, you start the installation process again from a CD.
