I loaded HH using Wubi and got everything up and running pretty easily. Generally speaking I was very impressed and used Firefox and Transmission mainly. Now three specific problems have arisen apparently around the same time. The triggering event appears to be a failed update. Here are the symptoms:

Transmission takes forever to download from a known good site and high availability torrent.

The navigation (Back, Next, etc.) keys and history files on Firefox are gone. I assume if there is no history being kept, the navigation keys are not required.

Finally, clicking the switch off icon does nothing: the normal choices (restart, power off, log off, etc.) do not appear.

Help please?

i have never used a wubi install. however, in my opinion, i think a reinstall would be in order. have you considered doing a real dual boot? Here (http://www.psychocats.net/ubuntu/installing) is a good guide to get started. it is actually pretty easy.

If I cannot fix these problems myself, or get help to do so, what difference does it make how my installation is done?

When you suggest a reinstall, are you suggesting a complete reinstall of HH?

I would really like to try to fix the problem before even considering a reinstall.
