Purchased my Serval Performance (SERP 2) on 6/25/2007. It was delivered about a week later. It is a beautiful and very capable computer. I am new to Linux/Ubuntu. I bought a couple of expensive manuals and try to dig out info when I need it. I have asked questions of System 76 support and it was forthcoming and very helpful, in a very timely manner.

This computer came with a built-in webcam, which was not operable. However, PROMISES WERE MADE THAT IT WOULD BE MADE OPERABLE. Now 14 months later and still nothing in the way of System76 driver updates to rectify this situation.

Have contacted support and the old prompt response is missing. I know you are rolling out new models and that takes time and effort, but what about your existing customer base?

There is something on this forum that purports to make the webcam work, but I'm not confident enough to tackle that project. Since management said they would make this work via the System76 driver updates, that's what I'm waiting for.

How about it? I'm not trying to be a harda-- about this, and I think I have exhibited patience (14 months worth).

From another post I include this statement, below

"But we are here to help you in any way you can. Just ask."

I'm asking, again.

Sincerely,

HKJ

Well, Karl, not exactly.

I've responded to all of your emails. However, they keep getting bounced back. Either you have us blocked, or your email provider is rejecting our emails. For whatever reason, we cannot get through. Could you please check on this?

We've been unable to get the web cam working on our shop Serval. So the fix is not yet in the System76 driver.

Tom,

Sorry I took you to task about not replying to my emails. I've scoured each of my computers, Serval (Serp 2) and the XP. I've got nothing blocked that I can see here so I'll have to see what the ISP is doing. So far anything that I used to get is still coming through with the exception of System76 email (obviously).

Time Warner is the new ISP. Will check to see what their controls may be.

Sincerely,

Karl Juelch

Hi, Karl.

Here is the message I get when I try to reply to your emails. Hopefully that will help. I'm sending the message via email too, but I'm betting you don't get it.
