is a streaming video that I would like to download. But I'm not having any success doing it.

Would anyone happen to have any suggestions as to how I can get it downloaded?

Thank you

Have you tried the download helper add-on for Firefox?

You can use VLC for it. If you need help on doing that let us know :)

Zunpi, Sure would appreciate your help in learning how to do it with VLC media player.

Thanks!

As Vivaldi Gloria said, I can barely play it, too. It usually just gives errors. But sometimes it starts. Here's how to do it:

1) Open VLC
2) File -> Open Network Stream
3) Select HTTP/HTTPS/FTP/MMS and in the text box near it input the URL
4) Check Stream / Save and click on Settings
5) Check Play Locally (if you want to also view the stream) and File. Click on Browse... to tell VLC where to save it. Specify a .wmv file.
6) Check both "Video Codec" and "Audio Codec"
7) Click Ok, twice ;).

It should start playing and saving to the file you specified now.

Thanks! But where is the file then being saved?

Can you tech me how to find it?

It is saved where you tell it to save it in step 5). Just browse to the folder you want it saved to and then type a file name (for example stream.wmv). It keeps saving to that file until you press Stop.

Znupi,

I'm able to save the video stream as a mov file and in Ubuntu it plays fine.... :)

However, when this same file is played in Windows XP using Quick time player only the video plays... No audio is heard....

Any suggestions ANYONE????

Thank you!!!

Why don't you save it as .wmv? .mov's are always problematic.

Hello Znupi!

I'm using VLC media player version 0.8.6c and based on the instructions you gave wmv is not a file format possible to save.

Indeed, I can save streaming media to my desktop, as an example, but not in wmv format.

IS it possible I'm doing something wrong?

Thanks again for your help on this one!!!!!

Znupi, Forget what I asked I got it figured out.

I do have for everyone another question!

If you go to:

http://www.russiatoday.com/en

On the right hand margin is a link "Watch RT Now".

I try to use VLC to record this news channel but it doesn't seem to work.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thank You!
