and linux has been on cnn even

Redhat CEO/president/one of those guys were being interviewed on MSNBC or Fox News or CNN yesterday about sales and competition and stuff like that.
/me spouts random facts that kinda go along with it

I only use my PC to check emails and post on these forums so I'm good no matter which OS I use. I just choose to use Linux because of it's ideals...

I personally wouldn't call Slashdot mainstream - Sorry Slashdot readers!
Mainstream is Reuters, BBC, CNN, Sky News, etc. - It's not on websites which are only accessible to those who have Internet and those in the know. Slashdot isn't known by everyone however CNN, BBC, etc. are.
However overall I think it's good that it is in the mainstream news. This is really showing how much Linux is increasing, and the sort of impact it is making. I think very soon we could see a massive increase of Linux use. :D
