Installing both Firefox's version will overwrite the setting of the other.

Alternative you could run one version of firefox as native and the other through wine.

Is it possible to run Firefox 2 and firefox 3 on 7. 04Why do you want to run both? Firefox 2's support (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mozilla_Firefox) will run out in December 2008.

There are several different reasons for running more than one FF regardless of OS (as far as I know). It is possible. Check out Mozillazine (http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?f=23&t=613873) and the profile manager page (http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_Manager#Linux). Be advised, stay frosty. But Ubuntu 8.04.1 should be preferable before 7.04. Also 8.1 is out at the end of next month.

And also I would like to know why you want to run exactly those two versions.

You can obviously install several versions of Firefoxs.

It is impossible to run 2 firefoxs on the same X server. However, you can run 2 firefoxs on different X servers on the same computer or different computer.

Inside KDE you can choose "switch user" and "start new session" to start a new X server on your computer, you can switch between them with "Ctrl-Alt-F7" and "Ctrl-Alt-F8".

8.10 is out next month. The 8 is the year and the 10 is the month it is released.

If you are planning to use Wine for this I would advice to use Firefox portable (http://portableapps.com/apps/internet/firefox_portable), because I installed Firefox using Wine along with my regular one and things got messy.

Thanks for your comments,
I am sticking with 7.04 since i need to use WebEx which does not work in any other combination ( 8.04 with firefox3 ). WebEx supports ubuntu 7.04 with firefox2.A CRM application thats been customised works well in firefox 3. So, Im stuck with needing to run both 8.04 and 7.04 which i want to avoid.
