Looking at some new server options for work, they all seem to run on 16GB FB-DIMM DDR2 667MHz. Is FB-DIMM still a viable option or is it likely to get replaced with something better in the near future?

FB means fully buffered. You have to be careful with server RAM because there are several types, they are all expensive, and they absoluetly won't work unless you have the correct one. Most of the servers out there are running either Registered ECC or Fully Buffered RAM. I don't think it's going away any time soon.

If you need some of this, I ordered 6 - 2 gig sticks of FB RAM that I can't use because my main server runs registered ECC. I will give you a smokin' deal on it if you want it. It is absolutely NEW RAM with a lifetime warranty.
