Yeah, i saw this release. I don't understand why, though, i thought 8.04 was just released recently.

There is a new release every 6 months.

A new version of Ubuntu is released in regular 6 month cycles. Every 4th release is considered a Long Term Support (LTS) release. This has 3 years of support given to it, as opposed to 18 months for a typical release.

8.04 is the current Ubuntu LTS.
