Hi There

A few weeks ago I installed Ubuntu on my 3 year old Compaq laptop with ATI integrated graphics. The biggest problem I've had so far is trying to play play 3D games like the Mupen64 Nintendo 64 emulator. I've been corresponding with people in another thread to resolve this issue for the past week, and though I think I've tried pretty much everything, nothing has worked and I've basically given up.

I am now thinking about buying a System 76 laptop, but I'd first like to know if I can expect to be able to play my N64 emulator. Also, would you recommend I get Intel or Nvidia graphics (which has better driver support for Ubuntu?)

I've been running World of Warcraft on my Gazelle for a while now and its been pretty solid. If Graphics performance is your concern I would strongly recommend the Nvidia Chipset.

World of Warcraft eh? Cool. I've got a couple more questions. What kind of battery life do you get with that card? And did the graphics work out of the box, or was there extra setup required?

Thanks for the quick response. :)

Battery life I am not so sure, running a highend game will tax you to a max of 2 hours or so. Otherwise I have gotten 4+ hours before while doing more standard activities. Surfing the web, word processing and listening to music (simultaneously).

My card worked out of the box(had to enable restricted drivers), but I'd recommend using EnvyNG to install nvidia's drivers for rock-solid performance.
