I am running amarok under Kubuntu 8.04.0

Problem:

the "mute" is possessed...

it turns itself on and off. I can be surfing, and the little window pops up stating "mute on", then a moment (or more) "mute off"

I can see the "speaker" icon on the bottom bar change as the mute changes.
I haven't found any rhyme to it, although it seems to timed, and it happens whether or not sound is playing.

Needless to say, it makes for a sad music session.

Any ideas anyone?

Thanks

ErnestG

First, have you updated it?
Second, have you tried purgeing it?

I really don't know if this will help, but you can try it...

sudo apt-get purge amarok
sudo apt-get install amarok

.

are u sure your not hitting a keyboard shortcut to mute it, etc.. or by accident with the mouse??

my wife does that all the time. She types and hits the touchpad on the laptop with her left thumb and the cursor moves all over the place.

That was the first thing I thought of...that or some hotkey maybe that you aren't aware of.

Super + M

i would find it hard that this can be repeatedly pressed by accident...

...

Super = Windowze Key

maybe i pressed some other button and forgot I had changed it or my brain forced the pressing on me by habit..

Absolutely sure. At one point I just sat back and watched it change by itself.

All by itself... on... off... on... off, like the ticking of some malevolent heart, mocking me, blinking at me...

oops, wrong forum....

Oh well, it still turns on and off under amarok.
The latest from the official repos, maybe not the latest from the official amarok web-site.

I won't be working on this for a few days, much too busy.
But the thread is on my list and I will keep checking it....
