I have an old Compaq Armada e500 laptop that I'm installing Ubuntu on. I've had to install 7.10 because it had 128mb of ram on it; I've since upped it to 320mb(!), and plan on getting it up to 512. It has a 6 gig hd and a P2 proc (400mhz). So. I am wondering how to speed things up under ubuntu. This laptop needs to be able to surf the web (I have a wireless B pcmcia card too) quickly, and do papers. If you have any suggestions, I'd definitely be open to any and all suggestions.

My thanks in advance.
