I am virtualizing ubuntu on vista with ubuntu as the guest, using sun VirtualBox. I gave the ubuntu Machine 128MB of video RAM, and 1000MB of RAM. my machine is an hp d9500 w/ 2048MB RAM and 300somethingMB video RAM, 1.66GHZ processor, 2MB l2 cache. when i try to enable visual effects w/ ubuntu desktop effects, it says they can't be enabled. should i bother downloading compiz? i am pretty sure ubuntu uses the compiz engine for the desktop effects, do i need to give the virtual machine more RAM is there something else i should do? thanks.

In short, it's not possible to use compiz within VirtualBox.
