Hi guys,

I am a ubuntu user in desktop for past 5 months. i have a plan to buy a laptop in next 2-3 months probably. I have decided if i buy a laptop i have to use ubuntu hardy only in that. In that case, can you guys suggest a suitable configuration for hardy. As far as internet is concerned, am gonna use my cable modem to my laptop also. Any suggestions and advise will surely welcomed.

HP dv2000 and dv6000's seem to work great, be sure to get it with the nvidia option and the intel wifi and you should be golden. If your interested in oem installs check out Zareason and System76, Dell used to have some nice ones, but only seem to be offering the mini9 at the moment.

avoid VIA (avoid is an understatement)

GL have fun shopping.

Dell still sells the other linux machines. Have a look here:

That XPS M1530 as listed looks very tasty.

@mailtwogopal

I have an HP dv2600 (dv2000 series), a Dell 1420n, and take care of a couple HP dv6000's, all of them are excellent ubuntu machines.

GL and have a blast, if I were buying today, and had $1500 to lay down I'd be giving that M1530 a very serious looking at myself.

that Pangolin with the entry level nvidia upgrade is flippin sweet man. For $1019 I don't think you can go wrong there. By the time you upgraded a 6 series to that level, and not even sure if thats offered I'd have to dig through the HP site, I am betting it would be more than that.

Go for the System76, you get the added benefit of supporting a linux OEM that way to.

GL and have fun.
