two questions

ok one, is there a way to take my app window and drag it to the edge of the screen to put it on the next desktop?

and two, is there a way i could have something like object dock for windows or that icon/shortcut bar in apple os?

If you have Compiz turned on, it does this by default (I believe). I don't know how GNOME handles this.

Do you have the 'workspace switcher' box down in the lower right? If you have 'window list' on your bottom (or top I suppose) you can drag the app across and drop it in the desired window switcher box.

Added: I saw you said you were new so: On the bottom pane, you can right click, Add to Panel, and add "workspace switcher". If you have two or more workspaces, you can see a series of boxes, each representing one of the workspaces/desktops.
