There is this old windows 2000 computer that's password protected that I'm trying to install ubuntu on as a way to get over the fact that I don't know the password, but it just boots to windows and seems to ignore the Ubuntu disc.

Any help on how to get it installed?

If not; any ideas on how to just get over the password issue?

If it is a BIOS password, just unplug it, open up the case and remove the CMOS battery (watch-type battery) for about 30-60 minutes. Then put in back in and try entering the BIOS again.

Change the boot sequence in the bios so that the cd boots first

When the computer is booting, it will probably say "Press [some key] to enter setup". Press that key. Navigate through the options to find the boot order. Set the CD drive to number one, and the hard drive to number two.

The key is usually F1, F2 or Del.
