hey guys,i have seen a bunch of threads and walkthroughs, etc. etc. but none of them seem to work for me :(

Dell inspiron 1420 - dualbooting vista/ubuntu 8.04
Broadcom Corporation BCM4328 802.11a/b/g/n (rev 03) wifi card (wlan0)
internet via ethernet (eth0)

i am trying to enable ICS so i can get my PS3 online via my laptop.

back story - i am currently in a dorm room up at school. our network (with a linux OS) requires authentication when you open your web browser, which works fine. log in once, and you have full internet access.

basically - i want my internet going into my laptop via ethernet (like it does now) but i would also like an ad-hoc network to share the internet connection via wifi with my PS3.

if need be, i CAN get a USB > ethernet adapter, but i would rather not - i AM a poor college student after all :)

all of the walkthroughs i have followed work all the way up until i enable firestarter, then it says that the wlan0 device is not ready.

any help for a ubuntu noob?? i really appreciate it. and sorry if this topic comes up every other day :(
