View Full Version : The Absurd Debate Thread!

I'm tired of serious, meaningless debates which have no end. Therefore I have erected the absurd debate thread. The idea is simple. Debate absurdly. There does not need to be a single unified topic, it can go to beans for all I care. The only rules are this:

no real world politics: I don't want to hear about secret goverment-funded bush clone projects, or closet-muslims

be silly: silly, not serious. Serious issues have no place in a silly thread, and this is most definitely a seriously silly thread. seriously.

I'll start you off.

Canadian geese, majestic avian or flying poop machines that threaten national security?

Canadian geese, majestic avian or flying poop machines that threaten national security? It is effectively self-evident that Canadian geese, like geese in general, exist only to rain poo on us from on high.

The proof: They spend most of their time on and around, and consume great quantities of, one of the most dastardly compounds on the planet: DHMO (http://www.dhmo.org/facts.html)! And their poo is mostly DHMO! Something must me done. Soon.

I disagree because... because... well if I agreed then it wouldn't be very good debate at all would it? :D

if white is the presence of all colors and black is their absence, then, there are no colors as we know them, just varying shades of grey.

Ah but if I fart in the general direction of the grey, it adds the colour that we have come to know.

I disagree with your disagreement on the basis that your avatar is deformed, and consequently your logic is flawed.

white and black are both colors.

The people of Carland should stop making dungbombs and throwing them at people of Mindland.

that would destabilize the carlandian dungbomb industry, throwing the country (or whatever those places are) into total chaos, ending with a nuclear war and the (further) zombification of the midlandian caucus.

Noooooooo...

White and black are both NEUTRALS.

Black is the complete absence of light, and since colour is made up of light at specific frequencies, then black is an absence of colour. White is all colours together, and so isn't a colour in itself. However, a much more fundamental cnsequence of black and white being as they are, is that otherwise no-one would ever be able to play the piano properly.

You people hurt my head ](*,)

Is it a black, a white, a black and white or a color head? And why 'you people' and not 'we people'?

Yes, this is where you apply for last minute bookings, unless you are born in an even-numbered month.

If all humans were colour blind, would colours exist? They wouldn't. Therefore black and white are not colours.
Ands months shouldn't be numbered, it's an offense to the gods after whom they were named.

That's pure discrimination against the numbered gods. What particular grudge to you have against gods IV or XI, e.g.?

Colours are ill defined

I hereby declare an end to all things coloured, especially those girly colours which no1 else understands like "mauve", and "lilac" and "maroon" and "sunflower yellow" and "ubuntu brown" etc etc - Its purple or brown or whatever! (Or no colour once im through with this thread!)

Though I gotta say i do quite like "ubuntu forum background colour grey". And also that "Ubuntu forum "Reply to thread" RED is pretty awesome" ooooo and dont forget "ubuntu logo bottom right circle yellow" - thats pretty cool

Maybe colours arent so bad once you go beyond the man version of like 5 colours: red, green, blue, black, white,

I disagree, just to be silly :P (thanks! lol) But...what if this isn't a thread? What if it's a figment of our imagination? Or even better yet, what if it is another dimension, and what we post then actually happens in that other dimension (that, or the posts just blow stuff up - that's good too, no?)? :O we could be gods! (me being the god of silly, of course) :P

Sorry, I have to disagree here. It's perhaps not fully serious, but not nearly silly enough to merit mention here. Let's see.

This thread is absurd!!!

That's just stating the obvious. Mentioning the weather while out of doors is at least as silly as that.

*gestures broadly* please debate :P

These are quite stereotyped memes and thus quite common in forum threads.

That silly enough for you? lol

Well, yes, self references often appear to be silly, but not to a very marked degree.

All in all, not any sillier than much other stuff which does not aspire to that distinction. No grant, definitely.

Blue actually, and nude.

Again with the head hurting...

I don't know why I bothered to try reading this, every attempt to kills a few more braincells.

silverglade00
September 8th, 2008, 12:41 PM
On the contrary, studies have shown that reading this non-thread can actually cause brain cell regeneration in certain laboratory rats. Since certain laboratory rats are physiologically close to humans, it stands that you are actually getting smarter by reading this non-thread. Thus, if you do not know why you bother, I submit that you are just acting in your own self-interest. Perhaps you lost those cells from reading another actual thread, but the cells you lost are those containing your memories of reading that thread. Now you head hurts because it is busy growing them back.

With your bickering about reading or not reading this non-thread you just about forgot to enjoy the lovely weather we're having tonight in this dark africaans forum. In fact, it scarcely ever rains here.
